DC Fans React to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Title Change

Fans have had mixed reactions to the recent title change for the upcoming DCU movie that was originally titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Following suit with James Gunn’s new Superman movie, the new title of the upcoming DC movie starring Milly Alcock in the lead role is now simply Supergirl. The film is slated to be released on June 26, 2026. As well as Alcock, Jason Momoa is also set to appear in the movie as Lobo.

Some Supergirl fans aren’t happy with Woman of Tomorrow title change

DC co-CEO James Gunn recently confirmed that the title of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been changed to just Supergirl. While speaking to Rolling Stone, Gunn said, “I’m always cutting. I’m sick of the superhero title, colon, other-name thing.”

This change to the movie’s title has received a mixed response from many fans on social media.

A user named Jack on X (formerly Twitter) didn’t seem happy with the name change and commented, “Is it a hot take to say I liked it with the subtitle better.”

Another fan agreed with the aforementioned user and conveyed that they liked the previous title better, as well as the other original DCU title, Superman: Legacy.

Another user on X stated, “I hate that now a date has to now be placed beside these movies to clarify which ones they are.”

Another user expressed their disappointment with the name change and wrote, “She’s no longer than [sic] woman of tomorrow.”

Although some fans seemed frustrated with the title change, many others praised the decision online.

One user on X asserted that the title change was a “wise decision.”

Another also gave their approval and wrote, “Keeping it simpler is sometimes better.”

Another user commented, “Yes! Much better. Supergirl is just classic.”
