Supergirl DCU Movie Gets Synopsis Ahead of Upcoming Trailer — Report

The synopsis for Supergirl has been revealed, according to a new report.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Supergirl arrives in United States theaters in June 2026. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the DCU movie sees Milly Alcock, who briefly appeared in the 2025 Superman movie, reprise her role as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

What is the synopsis for Supergirl?

With the trailer for Supergirl arriving this week, Feature First has shared what could be the synopsis for the movie. The outlet notes that it is “a likely official, but not confirmed, synopsis,” meaning this should be treated as a rumor until DC officially releases it.

It reads, “DC Studios’ Supergirl hits theaters this summer, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.”

Based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow miniseries by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, Supergirl is written by Ana Nogueira, while James Gunn and Peter Safran both serve as producers.

In addition to Alcock, the cast of the movie includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll.

Gillespie most recently directed 2023’s Dumb Money, though he’s also worked on TV shows such as Your Friends and Neighbors and The Better Sister. His filmography further includes 2007’s Mr. Woodcock, 2007’s Lars and the Real Girl, 2011’s Fright Night, 2014’s Million Dollar Arm, 2016’s The Finest Hours, 2017’s I, Tonya, and 2021’s Cruella.

Supergirl will be released on June 26, 2026. Following that, the DCU continues in 2026 with the Lanterns HBO Max series and James Watkins’ Clayface movie.
