Marvel Studios‘ Avengers: Secret Wars has received a brand-new update on its potential filming start date and main cast members. This comes over a month since production on Avengers: Doomsday officially wrapped in the UK, just in time for its theatrical release on December 18, 2026. As for Secret Wars, the movie is currently slated to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.
What is the new update for Avengers: Secret Wars?
According to a production listing shared by Hollywood North Buzz, Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to begin production on Avengers: Secret Wars in April 2026, which will last until September of that year. This is actually similar to Doomsday’s filming schedule.
Under the working title Apple Pie 2, the listing also showed the six possible cast members who will lead the movie. These include Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Tom Holland. Even though his involvement hasn’t been officially announced yet, this new update seemingly teases Spider-Man’s potentially major role in the sixth Avengers movie.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay written by Stephen McFeely. The latest installment will feature Oscar-winning actor Robert Downey Jr. as he signs on for the role of Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. The ensemble cast will also include MCU stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Mejia Huerta, Danny Ramirez, Simu Liu, Winston Duke, and Hannah John-Kamen.
The fifth installment will also feature the return of X-Men stars Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Following the movie’s viral casting announcement video, Feige confirmed they haven’t revealed the entire cast yet, teasing more casting announcements in the future. Recent casting rumors suggested that Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers, and Spider-Man might also appear in Doomsday.
