It’s no secret that Spider-Man 4 and the upcoming Punisher Disney+ project will be important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a new report sheds some light on just where they’ll take place in it.
Where do Spider-Man and Punisher fit on the MCU timeline?
During a recent Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked about where certain projects will take place in the larger MCU. Specifically, where Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Punisher, and more will occur.
According to Perez, Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 takes place ahead of all the projects, followed shortly by The Punisher’s special, then Born Again Season 2. After that, it’ll be Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Perez also hinting how the previous projects will inform the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
“Kingpin’s Rule of Law and how it affects Spider-Man as a hero,” Perez said. “Also, J. Jonah Jameson? Not the biggest fan of Kingpin. Sure, he agrees with the politics, but he sees through his web of lies.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.
They will be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Trammell Tillman, among others. The latter recently played the anti-hero again in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027) following Doomsday’s delay.
