Hellboy Victorious In His All Japan Pro Wrestling Debut

Never doubt the power of the Right Hand of Doom. As reported last month, Hellboy made his wrestling debut at the All Japan Pro Wrestling Summer Explosion event over the weekend. The appearance was a promotional tie-in with Lionsgate’s recent R-rated reboot, which opens in Japan on September 27. As expected, Hellboy had no trouble achieving a victory alongside his tag team partners.

Hellboy teamed up with Jake Lee and Koji Iwamoto to take on Takao Omori, Black Menso~Re and Hokuto Omori. It was a traditional six-man tag team match. While video of the match has yet to make its way online, snippets on social media indicate that Hellboy was dominant in the ring.

All Japan’s Twitter page had this post, which shows Hellboy clocking one of his opponents with a clothesline.

A fan by the name of WrestlingJebus (Mark) also posted a quick video of Hellboy coming off the ropes with a frog splash.

In this GIF, Hellboy scores the winning pin with that aforementioned clothesline, with the Right Hand of Doom to boot.

Fans also noted that the character came out to the theme of Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart,” and had a solid victory pose at the end of the match.

While not the most notable of wrestling performances, Hellboy did rile up the fans at the event, based on social media responses. And that’s just what All Japan Pro Wrestling and Lionsgate were looking for.

Hellboy is available now on 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD, for those that missed it in theaters.
