The highly anticipated trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 has finally arrived, containing many exciting reveals — the main one being the appearance of two Peacemakers. The reveal has greatly surprised fans, who are now eager to learn how there are two Peacemakers in the new season.
So why are there two Peacemakers in Season 2? Here’s what we know.
Two Peacemakers in Peacemaker Season 2 explained
One explanation behind the two Peacemakers in Peacemaker Season 2 could be the multiverse, with a storyline where John Cena’s protagonist opens a door to an alternate dimension where he encounters a variant of himself.
Moreover, this alternate dimension could explain Peacemaker’s integration into James Gunn’s new DCU, which kicked off with December 2024’s Creature Commandos. Gunn had previously confirmed in a December 2023 Threads post that Season 2 will both take place in and address its place in the DCU continuity.
Ultimately, fans will find out more when Peacemaker Season 2 launches on Max on August 21, 2025.

The Peacemaker Season 2 trailer offers fans a taste of what they can expect from Season 2. In the new season, Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. (who first appeared in Creature Commandos) has become the new director of ARGUS. Moreover, Flag Sr. is also out to capture and kill Peacemaker, whom he has been constantly monitoring, in revenge for Peacemaker killing his son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), in The Suicide Squad.
Additionally, Peacemaker can also be seen auditioning for a superhero team. This team is headed by Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) and consists of heroes like Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion) — all of whom are expected to first appear in 2025’s Superman. However, trailer dialogue implies that they reject Peacemaker as a potential recruit.
Like the previous season, Peacemaker Season 2 will consist of eight episodes.
Besides Cena, Grillo, Gunn, Fillion, and Merced, Season 2 will also star Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows.
