Third Avengers Movie Right After Doomsday & Secret Wars Was Discussed — Report

Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars‘ releases, a new rumor has surfaced online regarding Marvel Studios’ initial plans for the next phase of the Avengers franchise.

According to a new report by insider MyTimeToShineHello, the studio was originally planning to divide Avengers: Secret Wars into two films, hinting at the movie’s larger scale. However, the creative team reportedly decided against the idea of doing a third sequel. Avengers: Doomsday will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, while Secret Wars is still set for a December 17, 2027 theatrical release.

What do we know about Avengers: Secret Wars?

Just like Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars will also be directed and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo, with Stephen McFeely also writing the screenplay. Production on the sixth Avengers movie is expected to begin in April 2026. Filming will reportedly last until September of that year.

So far, the only confirmed cast members for Secret Wars are The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. is also expected to appear as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. According to a previous rumor, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man is reportedly one of the movie’s main cast members. Interestingly, it was just recently confirmed that Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star Sadie Sink will also be joining the Secret Wars cast. At the moment, Sink’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains a mystery, with fans speculating that she might be playing Gwen Stacey, Black Cat, or even Jean Grey.
