Spider-Man 4 Rumor Debunks Villain Theory After Brand New Day Set Photos

A new Spider-Man 4 rumor is out, and it debunks a popular theory about the appearance of a villain that many fans had assumed would be in the movie.

What is the latest Spider-Man 4 rumor?

According to a new post from My Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, Mister Negative and his Inner Demons crew will not be in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Previously, fans had believed that the character would make an appearance due to various rumors and a recent set video, which showed a car chase involving a tank that had an interesting red logo spray painted on it.

While fans initially thought the logo might be a new version of Mister Negative’s, that might not be the case. It’s unclear exactly what the logo is, but the set video does seem to indicate that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is driving the tank in the footage. As for the logo, fans have theorized it could be anything from a different logo for The Punisher to something like a covert reference to Sacha Baron-Cohen’s Mephisto.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.

They will be joined by recently announced new cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), with Jon Bernthal set to make his movie debut as Frank Castle/Punisher. The latter recently played the anti-hero again in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.

Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027), following Doomsday’s delay.
