Emma Stone Says She’s Not In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been beset by speculation since Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina signed on to reprise their roles as Electro and Doctor Octopus from Sony’s previous Spider-Man movies. Some outlets even reported that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. However, both Garfield and the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, have denied those rumors. Regardless, many fans refuse to believe their denials. Now, another Spider-Man veteran is speaking out.

Via MTV News, Emma Stone was asked if she will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy from the Amazing Spider-Man movies. Stone’s response was fairly straightforward.

“I have heard those rumors [and] I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I’m not [involved],” said Stone. “I don’t know what you’re supposed to respond as an alumnus.”

It should also be noted that Stone was pregnant during the production of No Way Home. That means she would have had limited availability at best. Additionally, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 killed off its Gwen near the end of the movie. So if Stone was going to reprise her role, it would have to have been an alternate version of Gwen.

Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei will co-star in No Way Home alongside Holland. Benedict Cumberbatch will also reprise his role as Dr. Stephen Strange for this film. Tony Revolori, Angourie Rice, J. B. Smoove, and Hannibal Buress are also returning for the sequel.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17.
