Marvel’s recent decision to delay Black Widow’s theatrical release surely disappointed moviegoers hoping to get their start-of-summer superhero fix next month. But on the bright side, Marvel now has an extra seven months to market the film. And the studio is starting off by releasing a pair of new images (via /Film) from the MCU’s inaugural Phase Four entry.
The first picture shows Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff evading assassins from the Red Room Academy. This is the same facility where Natasha received her own lethal spy training many years ago. At first glance, the scene looks like it could take place moments after Natasha’s tense reunion with Yelena Belova; which was glimpsed in Black Widow’s teaser trailer. Natasha seems to be wearing a different leather jacket in this photo. However, the encounter could very well be happening in the same house.
Florence Pugh’s Yelena is the focus of the next shot. Dressed in tactical gear reminiscent of Nathasha’s familiar outfit, she appears to be on a mission as she stands on a rooftop in broad daylight. A sniper rifle is also visible in the bottom corner of the image. This suggests she might be the designated markswoman in Natasha’s “family.” By now, we know that this also includes David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz’s Melina Vostokoff.
Black Widow opens in theaters on November 6.
