Ray Winstone Joins the Cast of Marvel’s Black Widow Movie

Although Marvel Studios has yet to announce its first Phase 4 film, it’s likely to be Black Widow.  It’s the only Marvel film currently in production, and another veteran actor has just been added to the cast.

Variety is reporting that Ray Winstone has signed on the for the Black Widow solo film. However, his role was not disclosed and Marvel declined to comment on the story. Winstone’s career in film and TV spans over four decades, and he has plenty of genre experience. He previously starred in King Arthur, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. He also lent his voice to Beowulf and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Winstone is also widely known for his roles in The Departed, JawboneSweeney Todd, and King of Thieves.

Scarlett Johansson will once again reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in her first stand alone MCU film. Johansson made her debut as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 back in 2010, and she returned for two Captain America movies, all four Avengers films, and a cameo in Captain Marvel.

Florence Pugh is reportedly playing a rival agent to Natasha in Black Widow. Additionally Stranger Things star David Harbour is co-starring in the film alongside Rachel Weisz and O-T Fagbenle.

Black Widow will be directed by Cate Shortland from a script by Jac Schaeffer. The film will likely be released in May 2020.
