A new rumor suggests David Jonsson‘s MCU debut as T’Challa before Black Panther 3. Jonsson was cast as an older version of the prince, who was first introduced as a child in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, if the new information from a reliable insider is true, fans won’t have to wait long to see Jonsson in the role.
A new scoop from insider Daniel Ritchman (via Comicbookmovie) claims that Jonsson will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars first. The film comes one year after Avengers: Doomsday and is scheduled to enter production soon to meet its late 2027 release date. Black Panther 3 is scheduled to release on December 15, 2028. It should be noted that this is just a rumor and should be treated as such, as Marvel Studios has not officially commented on the matter.

Ryan Coogler reportedly held a secret meeting with Jonsson and later told Kevin Feige about his decision to cast the actor. Feige told ScreenRant, “Coogler had a secret meeting with him five or six months ago, then called me afterwards and said, ‘This is him, I feel and see it in his soul. He’s a good man. He’s a great man, and he’s going to bring the Panther to life.'”
At the time of writing, the only officially announced cast members for Black Panther 3 include Jonsson, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M’Baku. Marvel has yet to confirm if the film will include Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Danai Gurira’s Okoye, or other actors from previous installments.
Fans will have to wait and see if Jonsson makes his debut as T’Challa II in Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Until then, Wright will play Black Panther in the MCU, returning in Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.
