Singer/actress America Olivo has joined the Broadway cast of "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark." Olivo updated her facebook page this morning with the message, "In training for Spiderman." Her Twitter feed, meanwhile, features a link to news of the musical's opening.
Though her role is unconfirmed, it appears that Felicia Hardy (aka the Black Cat) is unlikely to make an appearance in the stage version. When asked by another poster who she would be playing, Olivo addressed the suggestion that she would make an excellent Black Cat with the response, "Black Cat? Ohh, I like... Humph... I don't know the Black Cat character. Who is she?"
Olivo has appeared onscreen in The Last Resort, Bitch Slap and the recent Friday the 13th reboot. She is also the lead singer for the band Soluna and one of the models featured on the cover of Mötley Crüe's Saints of Los Angeles.
"Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark" has long been in development but was just announced to premiere on November 14th of this year. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, the stage version stars Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano and Patrick Page.
