HBO’s Harry Potter makers are on a hunt for a major Season 2 character. The second season will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (the second book in the series).
What major Harry Potter character will be introduced in the HBO Max TV show’s second season?
HBO Max is in the process of finding Colin Creevey for the second season of the Harry Potter TV show. Deadline has revealed that the casting process has begun, with auditions currently underway. The show’s makers are also currently searching for a new actor to play Ginny Weasley, which isn’t the least of the production’s problems.
In The Chamber of Secrets, Creevey is a young photographer enamoured by Potter, constantly following him around the castle. Those who read the book will know that Creevey gets petrified by the Basilisk in the sequel, a moment that plays a major role in unraveling the second book’s central mystery. Hugh Mitchell played Creevey in Chris Columbus’ 2002 film.

Like the rest of the cast, the character is expected to return in subsequent seasons. Warner Bros. previously revealed that the Harry Potter series is being looked at as a 10-year project. Work on the second season began early, and following its official renewal, it will enter active production later this year. A new teaser from HBO revealed glimpses of new shots from the series.
The second season will also see another recurring character play a bigger role. As for the show’s most important character besides Harry, there have been no updates on who’s playing Voldemort. The evil wizard plays a larger role in the second book, coming to life through a personification of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Harry Potter Season 1 will debut on HBO in Christmas 2026, adapting the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
