A popular Game of Thrones spin-off TV show is unlikely to recast one actor even if HBO instructs them to do so. The TV series had its premiere earlier this year and has garnered mostly positive reactions so far.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the highly admired Game of Thrones spin-off series, has been out for the past few months with its Season 1. Currently, its fans are anticipating the second chapter but showrunner Ira Parker has made one thing very clear.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parker was asked about the possibility of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms completing three seasons and then stretching to five, but without a break, and the probability of HBO asking him to just recast several actors instead of waiting for them to grow up, especially Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg.
Well, Parker had a blunt and simple response. “No. Dexter is our Egg. Or, at least, Dexter is my Egg — I have no controlling interest in this property. But Dexter and Peter are my guys,” he said, referring to co-star Peter Claffey, who plays Ser Duncan the Tall.

At the moment, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is expected to arrive in the first half of 2027, according to showrunner Ira Parker. When asked to comment on the possibility of the second season coming next year, he said, “Yeah, absolutely.”
Speaking more of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, it has gone through a lot of production delays so far. It went through multiple disruptions due to the weather in Spain’s Canary Islands.
Showrunner Parker also talked about this experience in a blunt manner. “The place we chose to shoot our drought in got a once-in-a-100-year storm,” he said.
He also mentioned that the crew had witnessed repeated shutdowns because of “national emergencies” and “flooding” at the shooting locations. “There’s been so much stopping and starting that it’s been hard to get into a real cadence,” he added.
The Game of Thrones spin-off TV show has been able to create a solid impact since its Season 1 came out on January 18, 2026. Currently, it holds a stellar Tomatometer score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show even received nine Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
