Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s post-credits scene reveals Peter Parker’s location in outer space, setting up major MCU events ahead. The ending breakdown highlights implications for Avengers: Doomsday, Secret Wars, and the broader franchise future.
The scene shows Ned Leeds’ Spider Tracker software searching for a new Spider-Man sighting. Earlier in the film, the app displayed numerous sightings across New York City. However, the post-credits scene shows New York completely devoid of any Spidey icons on the map.
The camera then pulls away from Earth and moves into space before displaying “Location found.” Someone in space must have reported the sighting through the tracker for it to register. Peter himself likely used the software to signal Ned that he remains safe but off-planet.
The end credits seemingly confirm Spider-Man will return but do not specify when or in which project. Tom Holland was not announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast for practical reasons. Holland was busy filming Brand New Day during Doomsday’s production schedule.
Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova appears in Brand New Day before her role in Doomsday. The film establishes that Yelena considers certain problems as “Spider-Man jobs” while bigger threats require Avengers. She therefore would not recruit Peter for a multiversal crisis.
Speculation suggests that Doomsday could end with the heroes losing to Doctor Doom. Reed Richards’ rocket could then serve as a space arc carrying survivors. Peter might end up among a select group who remember the old universe after its destruction.
The post-credits scene also connects to the 1984 Secret Wars comic storyline. In that story, Spider-Man obtained his black symbiote suit on Battleworld. The Russo Brothers previously called that comic their favorite, suggesting they will likely adapt this iconic moment on screen.
