Krysten Ritter Addresses Jessica Jones Instagram Post, Surprising Fan Reaction

Sorry, Marvel fans, but Krysten Ritter‘s Instagram post from earlier this year was not meant to be taken as her hinting at Jessica Jones‘ imminent Marvel Cinematic Universe return.

Ritter recently cleared the air surrounding her January 2024 Instagram Story, which featured the actor wearing Jessica’s “Save Our Souls” shirt and a caption that read: “IYKYK”, the acronym for “If You Know You Know.”

A screenshot of the Instagram Story, alongside an image of Jessica Jones wearing the same shirt in her Netflix series, can be viewed below:

Krysten Ritter was surprised by the fan reaction to her Instagram post

In an interview with Collider to promote her upcoming series, Orphan Black: Echoes, Ritter said that she had no idea her Instagram Story would send the MCU fandom into a tizzy. “No, I didn’t. I have the shirt. It’s a great t-shirt. It’s one of my favorites and I was wearing it. I was like, ‘Oh, cute! Is anyone gonna recognize my shirt?'” she recalled. “But yeah, I did notice that it made some waves. That was fun.”

Ritter shared that the fan response to her Instagram post “totally” made her happy, telling Collider, “And that means a lot to me, as well. The character means so much to me, as well. It’s funny that one little thoughtless Instagram story of my cute t-shirt that I love [got that reaction].”

Marvel fans thought Krysten Ritter was teasing a Daredevil: Born Again cameo

Ritter’s Instagram Story likely received a strong reaction from the MCU fandom because it was posted shortly after production resumed on Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again. The upcoming Disney+ series is set to feature the long-awaited MCU returns of several Netflix/Marvel characters, including Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer), and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal).

With Marvel Studios officially recognizing the Netflix/Marvel shows as being part of the MCU’s sacred timeline, the door remains open for Ritter to eventually return as Jessica Jones in a future project. Until then, fans can rewatch all three seasons of the character’s self-titled series on Disney+.
