Elektra’s new costume in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 might be hiding a massive clue about her real purpose. Set photos reveal a striking new look for Elodie Yung’s return, fueling a compelling theory about who will protect Hell’s Kitchen while Matt Murdock sits in prison.
The real reason Elektra may be returning is a Game Changer
Elodie Yung’s Elektra is making her highly anticipated return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Set photos shared by @_DaredevilShots on X show the actress filming scenes in a striking new costume with red and black colors. The color scheme closely mirrors Daredevil’s Season 2 suit, sparking a major theory about her role.
As a result, Matt Murdock ended Born Again Season 2 behind bars for the crimes he committed as Daredevil. Consequently, Hell’s Kitchen now sits without its protector, creating a power vacuum in the neighborhood. Elektra’s new costume suggests she may be stepping up to fill that void for Matt.
Notably, this theory carries significant weight because Elektra has worn the Daredevil mantle multiple times in Marvel Comics. She even headlined her own solo series called Daredevil: Woman Without Fear. In particular, that book followed her mission to prove she could be more than just an assassin.
Similarly, the MCU version of Elektra could pursue a similar path of redemption going forward. Previously, she caused tremendous harm while under the Hand’s control during the events of The Defenders. A building collapsed on both her and Matt during that battle, but his survival always left her fate open.
Meanwhile, Elektra will face competition for the Daredevil title from an unexpected challenger. Specifically, Finn Jones has been spotted on set reprising his role as Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist. His comic book counterpart famously took over as Daredevil during the Civil War storyline to protect Matt’s identity.
Additionally, Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter have also appeared on set as Luke Cage and Jessica Jones respectively. Overall, Born Again Season 3 is assembling a massive roster of returning Marvel Netflix heroes when it premieres in 2027.
