Simu Liu Shows Off His Skills in Marvel’s Latest Shang-Chi Clip

Several early reactions to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have praised the movie’s fight choreography as some of Marvel’s best. Now, two weeks ahead of its premiere, the studio has released an extended look at one of the film’s most pivotal action scenes, with Simu Liu’s character taking on a group of thugs in rather close quarters.

After cornering him and his friend, Katy (Awkwafina), on a bus, the assassins demand the green pendant that Shang-Chi wears around his neck. Shang is hesitant to put up a fight at first. However, after one of the goons shoves Katy’s head into a window, he springs into action, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks to keep their attackers at bay. No one seems more surprised by Shang-Chi’s kung-fu mastery than Katy. But even more surprising is that no one pulls the cord to get off the bus during the skirmish.

Additionally, the clip also features an appearance by Zach Cherry as a vlogger who livestreams the fight on his phone. Cherry previously showed up as a street vendor in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it’s not clear if he’s playing the same character.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3.
