Marvel Studios is reportedly hunting for an actor to play one of the most dangerous versions of the Hulk ever created. The character would make his live-action debut in the upcoming multiversal epic, aka Avengers: Secret Wars, that closes out the current saga.
Hulk’s Maestro form rumored to arrive in Avengers: Secret Wars
The rumour comes from scooper James Mack, who posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the studio is actively seeking someone to play the Maestro. “Marvel Studios is reportedly looking for an actor to play Maestro in ‘AVENGERS: SECRET WARS.’” The character represents a dark fusion of Bruce Banner’s genius-level intellect and the Hulk’s raw physical power, stripped of any moral restraint.
In Marvel Comics lore, the Maestro is a supervillain from an alternate future designated as Earth-9200. Created by writer Peter David and artist George Pérez, he first appeared in The Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect #1 in December 1992.
Unlike the conflicted Banner, this version fully embraces tyranny, ruling over a post-apocalyptic wasteland with brutal cunning. The character has previously appeared in animation and video games. Fred Tatasciore voiced him in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., but a live-action appearance would be a significant escalation.
The casting rumour comes alongside separate reports about multiple Hulk variants appearing in the film. Insider MyTimeToShineHello previously claimed that both Hulk and Thor could show up in several different forms, though fans should treat all such reports with caution for now. Mark Ruffalo has not been officially confirmed for Avengers: Secret Wars. But he is already set to appear in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
That earlier ensemble includes Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Letitia Wright, and Florence Pugh. The full cast list for Secret Wars remains under wraps.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
