A New Rockstars theory recently broke down where Bruce Banner ended up after Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The theory explores Banner’s fate following his arrest and DODC custody transfer.
A news report in the film states Banner “is in custody, currently being transferred to a psychiatric ward.” The theory argues this destination seems unrealistic for someone with Banner’s power level. The psychiatric ward story likely serves as a government cover instead. The DODC probably used it to prevent other Avengers from attempting Banner’s release.
The theory identifies two probable locations for Banner’s actual containment. The first option is the DODC Supermax detention center in Yucca Valley, California. This desert facility previously contained Emil Blonsky, also known as Abomination. The second option is the Raft, last seen holding Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World.
The theory leans toward the Raft as Banner’s most likely prison. A massive breakout recently occurred at the Yucca Valley facility during Wonderman. Authorities would therefore favor the more secure ocean-based Raft for Banner’s containment. The theory also points out that Banner was taken without any inhibitor chip technology.
Peter Parker created only two inhibitor chips throughout the film. One remained with Parker himself while the other ended up on Jean Grey. The DODC lacked sufficient time to reverse-engineer a third chip for Banner. This means Banner sits in custody with no technological suppression of his Hulk transformation.
The theory suggests Banner’s Raft imprisonment directly sets up Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. The Raft could become a literal life raft when Battleworld forms at Doomsday’s end. Banner would then emerge in his Savage Hulk state and potentially establish a civilization there.
