Netflix dropped a latest update that might not excite Spider-Man fans much. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day just days from its theatrical release, three Spider-Man movies are set to leave the streaming platform.
According to What’s On Netflix, all three movies of the friendly neighborhood superhero, directed by Sam Raimi, will be dropped from Netflix on August 6, 2026. Raimi had great success in his first couple of movies. His first of the lot, Spider-Man (2002), secured a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Next up, 2004’s Spider-Man 2 became the best movie of the lot, garnering a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score. However, Raimi failed to replicate the success with Spider-Man 3 in 2007, which would become the final movie of the trilogy.
Tobey Maguire took on the titular lead of Spider-Man while Kirsten Dunst donned the role of his love interest, Mary Jane Watson.
What other Spider-Man movies are currently available to stream?
Despite Netflix removing three Spider-Man movies in early August, fans can still stream the other live-action Spider-Man movies in the franchise. Following Maguire’s stint as the web-slinger, the baton was passed to Andrew Garfield.
Five years after Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, Marc Webb debuted Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man. Webb also released a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in 2014, where the same actor reprised his superhero role.
Three years later, the wall crawler was inducted into the MCU. Although Tom Holland made his Spider-Man debut in Captain America: Civil War, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming was the first standalone movie of the franchise. Directed by Jon Watts, Holland reprised his role in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Meanwhile, for the first time, Spider-Man: Brand New Day had a change in direction, with Destin Daniel Cretton coming in at the helm.
Apart from the live-action movies, fans can also catch a couple of animated series released by Sony, namely, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
