Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has received its best poster yet. The new imagery gives fans a fresh look at how Nolan is reimagining the mythical characters from Homer’s epic.
What do we see in the new The Odyssey poster?
The latest Odyssey poster shows Matt Damon’s Odysseus facing an army of armored giants. The movie’s marketing has shown many breathtaking visuals, and the new poster ups the ante for excitement.
In Homer’s Odyssey, the Greek hero Odysseus has his ships destroyed by the Laestrygonians, a group of cannibal giants. The poster hints at a reimagining of what the Laestrygonians look like. The Odyssey has already drawn ire with its costume design, for which Nolan offered a clarification rooted in historical accuracy.
Leading up to its release, The Odyssey team also revealed new looks at the battle of Troy. For a film adapting a long epic, its reported runtime also seems up to the task, being Nolan’s second-longest film. The movie was shot using new IMAX technology, Nolan’s favorite film format.
The Odyssey is one of Nolan’s most important films, veering into supernatural territory by using the physical environment to convey the Greek gods’ presence. The film has been positioned as the pinnacle of lead actor Matt Damon’s career and also saved Tom Holland’s upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Corey Hawkins, Josh Stewart, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, and more.
It’s written and directed by Nolan. He also produced the film Emma Thomas for Syncopy. The Odyssey is executive produced by Thomas Hayslip.
The Odyssey releases in theaters on July 17, 2026.
