Marvel fans who are hoping to see Gwen Stacy show up in Spider-Man 4 may want to brace themselves for disappointment.
Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is currently in production. The Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures movie is directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton and will see Tom Holland once again reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink has been cast in an undisclosed role in the MCU film. Recently, some fans thought they spotted Sink with blonde hair in a recent batch of Brand New Day set photos that emerged online. This led some to believe that she was playing Gwen Stacy in the film. Others, however, weren’t convinced that was actually Sink in the photo.
What is the latest Spider-Man 4 update?
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello is now saying that not only is Sink not the person in the set photo, but that “she isn’t even in Glasgow,” which is where Holland is currently filming, at the moment.
Nexus Point News Editor-in-Chief Demet Koc also said that Sink is “not Gwen, I am like 95% sure.”
Official plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day remain under wraps at this time, meaning there has been no confirmation from Marvel whether or not Gwen is actually in the script. The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas has also been cast in the movie; however, similar to Sink, it is unclear who she is playing.
Jon Bernthal, meanwhile, will portray Frank Castle/Punisher in the film, while Mark Ruffalo is returning as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Michael Mando is reprising his role as Mac Gargan/Scorpion. Also coming back are Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Ned Leeds.
Spider-Man 4 arrives in United States theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
