New rumors for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday have emerged online.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. The MCU movie is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. It currently has a May 2026 release date, while the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is dated for 2027.
In Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, we learn that Anthony Mackie’s Captain America/Sam Wilson has assembled a new team of Avengers. MCU fans have not yet been told who is on the team, as the Thunderbolts* are instead promoted to “New Avengers” at the end of the film.
What is the rumored line-up of Captain America’s superhero team in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, the members of Sam’s Avengers currently include “Joaquin Torres, Captain Marvel, Bruce Banner, Wong, and Shang-Chi are the ones officially on his team. I’ve heard they may recruit She-Hulk as well.”
This is a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt at this time, as this has not been officially confirmed. It’s worth noting that, while Danny Ramirez (Falcon) and Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) are part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, there’s been no announcement that Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Benedict Wong (Wong), and Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk) will be as of yet.
Perez further mentioned that MCU fans have “already met” the members of Doctor Doom’s team, though he didn’t reveal any specific names, and that Latveria will be featured in some way in either Doomsday or Secret Wars. In Marvel Comics, Latveria is a fictional European country that is ruled by Doctor Doom.
Regarding how big of a role Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther will have in the film, Perez said, “It’s such an unfair question to answer at this stage of the game. Because really, the Russos try to tailor their story to make sure the characters each have their moment to shine or play the role they’re meant to play, each one allowing the overall story to progress. So I don’t think it’s a fair assessment to say how big a character’s role is. However, what she might do? Probably contact Namor and bring him into the story. “
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on May 7, 2027.
