Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth entry in the Planet of the Apes reboot series — following Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), and the aforementioned War for the Planet of the Apes. It is also the 10th big-screen entry in the overall franchise.

In addition to Teague, Kingdom stars Freya Allan (The Witcher), Peter Macon (The Orville), Eka Darville (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Kevin Durand (Swamp Thing), Travis Jeffery (Preacher), Neil Sandilands (The Flash), Sara Wiseman (Power Rangers Dino Fury), Lydia Peckham (Cowboy Bebop), Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi (The Clearing), William H. Macy (Mystery Men), and Dichen Lachman (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

What is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes about?

In Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, many ape societies have spawned from when the now-deceased Caesar led his people to an oasis. Humans, meanwhile, have regressed to a feral state.

Some of the new ape societies have never heard of Caesar, while others have twisted his teachings in the name of imperialism. One such ape begins to enslave other clans in an effort to locate secret human technology. Another ape, whose clan was taken, embarks on his own quest for freedom. A young human woman joins him on this journey, though she has her own goals in mind.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes opens in theaters on May 24, 2024.
