Rob Zombie Confirms Cassandra Peterson’s Role in The Munsters

Director Rob Zombie is bringing some additional star power to his update of The Munsters. As production continues on his big-screen reboot of the 1960s TV series, Zombie announced on Instagram that Cassandra Peterson has officially landed a role in the film. He also shared the first image of her character, which you can view below. Cassandra Peterson’s role.

Peterson will appear in The Munsters as a brand new character named Barbara Carr, the top real estate agent in Mockingbird Heights. Incidentally, this is the same neighborhood where the titular family lives, so it’s likely that she’s the one who sold them their house on Mockingbird Lane. Additionally, the photo gives us an idea of the retro-style wardrobe and production design that Zombie is aiming for. It pays homage to the ‘60s setting of the original series while still feeling fresh in its own way.

Since 1981, Peterson has played Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, in various films and TV show appearances. Last fall, Peterson published her autobiography, Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark. She also co-wrote Dynamite’s Elvira: The Wrath of Con one-shot comic alongside David Avallone. (Read our interview with her here).

Peterson joins a cast that includes Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster. Richard Brake and Sylvester McCoy will also appear in the movie as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang and the Munsters’ servant, Igor, respectively. Herman and Lily’s son, Eddie, and Lily’s niece, Marilyn, are also confirmed to have roles in the film, but Zombie hasn’t revealed who will step into those roles.

Universal hasn’t set a release date for The Munsters, but it’s expected to be a Peacock exclusive.
