DC’s Injustice Will Be the Next Animated Movie After The Long Halloween, Part 2
The two-part adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween won’t be the last DC animated features to debut this year. Warner Bros. Animation has revealed that DC’s Injustice will be the next animated adaptation after Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2. Warner Bros. Animation will include a sneak preview of the film with The Long Halloween, Part 2‘s special features. But at the moment, there are no further details to share about the film itself.
NetherRealm Studios created the hit video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013, as well as Injustice 2 in 2017. Within the games’ story, the Joker tricked Superman into murdering his wife, Lois Lane, and their unborn child. After murdering the Joker in revenge, Superman also convinced most of the Justice League to help him take over the world. However, Batman and a few other heroes and villains resisted the new regime. Five years later, Batman also recruited the League’s heroic counterparts from an alternate Earth to help him take down Superman.
The Injustice video games also reunited Justice League cast members Kevin Conroy (Batman), George Newbern (Superman), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman), and Phil LaMarr (John Stewart/Green Lantern). Presumably, the animated adaptation could also bring that cast back together. However, that is simply speculation at this point.
Additionally, DC has published several Injustice comics that explored the five years of Superman’s reign. That means there’s a lot of material for stories if the animated movie isn’t a direct adaptation of the first game.
