J.K. Simmons Has Already Filmed His Next J. Jonah Jameson Scene

Last summer, J.K. Simmons became the first actor from the original Spider-Man trilogy to reprise his role in the MCU. As seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson has exposed Peter Parker’s secret identity to the world. A few weeks ago, Simmons hinted that he would be back for the next Spider-Man movie. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons was more forthcoming about his MCU future while he was guest on The Jess Cagle Show.

“Well yeah, [I’ll be back as Jameson] that’s the short answer,” said Simmons. “There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus. He showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the credits of Far from Home… There is one more JJJ appearance in the can, and from what I’m hearing there’s a plan for yet another. So hopefully JJJ will continue now and forever.”

It’s possible the scene Simmons shot was similar to his cameo in Far From Home. That film established the MCU’s Jameson as the editor behind the “controversial” Daily Bugle web site. Additionally, unlike his comic book counterpart, Jameson has no personal relationship with Peter Parker. Instead, the one-sided feud is coming strictly from Jameson. Presumably Peter and Jameson will eventually share a scene in the new film.

The next MCU Spider-Man movie will be released on November 5, 2021.
