Will Denis Lawson Return To Star Wars In The Rise of Skywalker?

On December 20, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring the original saga to an end. Denis Lawson was there from the very beginning in the first Star Wars. He portrayed Wedge Antilles, an ace X-Wing fighter who survived both Death Star battles. Wedge was noticeably absent from the first two films in the current trilogy. However, an upcoming novel may tease Lawson’s return.

Via StarWars.com, Wedge will return in Star Wars: Resistance Reborn, a new Rise of Skywalker prequel novel by Rebecca Roanhorse. An older Wedge can be seen on the cover below. Additionally, Wedge plays a large supporting role in the novel as well. The story also explores Wedge’s personal connection to the Resistance. He trained modern ace X-Wing pilots, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Snap Wexley (Greg Grunberg). Wedge is also Snap’s adoptive father.

While Lawson’s return would make sense, Lucasfilm has yet to confirm his onscreen appearance. However, his likeness on the cover is an encouraging sign. Wedge was most recently used as a supporting character in Star Wars Rebels. That animated series revealed how Wedge defected to the Rebels, and how he established himself within the Rebellion.
