Leia Organa is one of the central characters in the Star Wars saga. Fans watched her lead the Rebel Alliance, serve as a galactic senator, and later caught a brief glimpse of her Jedi training in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, that moment left many questions unanswered, including how Leia embraced the Jedi path and where her lightsaber came from.
Bestselling author Beth Revis is releasing a new novel, Star Wars: Twin Crossroads, to tell that story. Announced during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the book’s story takes place shortly after Return of the Jedi and follows Luke and Leia as they train together while taking on a dangerous mission for the New Republic.
The novel picks up after Revis’ earlier book, The Princess and the Scoundrel. As Luke teaches Leia the ways of the Force on Ajan Kloss, the twins head to Coruscant on a covert mission, all while wrestling with what it means to carry their parents’ legacy.

What did Beth Revis reveal about writing Luke and Leia’s story?
Speaking with StarWars.com, Revis said one of the most exciting parts of writing the novel was creating the story behind Leia’s lightsaber. She was so excited that she even bought a replica for research. “My favorite thing was coming up with where Leia got her kyber crystal, which I cannot believe they let me do,” Revis said. “I flipped out. This is the first time I’ve ever been able to talk about it!”
The sibling relationship between Leia and Luke is the core of the novel. She recalled her own bond with her brother, whose name is also Luke, sharing household chores. Revis said that she wanted them to feel like real siblings instead of larger-than-life legends. “For me, the biggest thing that I wanted to do is make them sound human,” Revis said. “It wasn’t like the general and the princess talking to the Jedi Master. It was brother and sister. So they’re going to bicker a little bit. They’re going to have inside jokes.”
The novel will be published by Random House Worlds, and Star Wars: Twin Crossroads is arriving in April 2027.
