More Set Photos From Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

This weekend, we brought you some exclusive photos from the set of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Production is currently in New Orleans where they’ve set up an overgrown San Francisco on one of the streets. One of our sources got us quite a few photos previously and today they’ve provided us with a few more, including some surprises.

If you look at the pictures closely, you’ll see a few more San Francisco indicators such as a banner for the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco and a broken down cable car. The most interesting thing about the photos though is the graffiti on one of the buildings. The original image is that of a human face with the words “Human Nation” on the top and bottom, and as you can see a chimpanzee skull (with a biohazard symbol) have been painted over it. Directed by Matt Reeves with a script from Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story that began in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and features a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, Jocko Sims, and Judy Greer.

In the film, a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will open on May 23, 2014.
