The Lord of the Rings: Gollum’s New Trailer Highlights Stealth Gameplay

After years of playing second fiddle to other characters, the man formerly known as Smeagol will finally embark on his own voyage this fall, and the journey will take him all across the vast reaches of Middle-earth. During today’s Nacon Connect event, Daedalic Entertainment unleashed a new gameplay trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which shows the titular character visiting several familiar locations.

It’s still not clear what sets Gollum’s upcoming adventure in motion. However, the game will take him farther than he’s ever traveled before, and whatever he’s after will pit him against a variety of new enemies. Although we don’t get to see him throw a punch, the trailer highlight’s the game’s focus on stealth combat. For much of the campaign, Gollum will be forced to remain in the shadows, crawling on the ground and shimmying along ledges as he evades detection by guards. He can also toss random objects as a distraction when a quick escape isn’t possible.
