With Marvel Studios fully invested in reestablishing Netflix’s Defenders Saga, the return of a fan-favorite villain may now be on the way.
So far, Marvel has only brought back Daredevil villains, specifically Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye. However, with Jessica Jones being added to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and rumors of Luke Cage and Iron Fist joining her, the doors are now open for Marvel to bring back more characters from those three Netflix series.
Which fan-favorite Netflix villain may be returning to the MCU?
In his latest Q&A for the Cosmic Circus, trusted insider Alex Perez revealed that Netflix/Marvel villains like Davos, Diamondback, and Bushmaster could return in future MCU projects, although the only one he’s “heard mainly is David Tennant as Kilgrave.”
Tennant’s Kilgrave was the MCU’s take on the Purple Man, who has the ability to control people’s minds and actions through verbal suggestion. Kilgrave was the main antagonist of Jessica Jones Season 1. Despite being killed by Jessica at the end of the season, Tennant returned to play Kilgrave in Seasons 2 and 3, appearing as a hallucination.
It’s unclear how Marvel plans to bring back Kilgrave, although Tennant is certainly open to returning in the role. In February 2024, the actor shared on the red carpet of the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards that he’d “love to do Kilgrave again, yeah, Kilgrave would be great.”
Kilgrave’s potential MCU return comes as fans gear up to see Krysten Ritter return to the role of Jessica Jones in the forthcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again. She will be aiding Daredevil in resisting Mayor Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
The official synopsis for the new season reads, “In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.”
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on March 24, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
