Seasons 4 and 5 of The Witcher to cover final three books

The fourth and fifth seasons of the series will cover the remaining three books of author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. According to showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich in a statement to Netflix, the team behind the series are excited to bring the remaining Sapkowski novels to a close with the remaining two seasons.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Netflix. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

The series was previously being led by Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, though Season 3 marked Cavill’s final season as the titular hunter, as he has been replaced by Hunger Games vet Liam Hemsworth from Season 4 onwards. The series also stars Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.
