Oscar Isaac Calls Moon Knight the Most Challenging Role of His Career

Some would argue that the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t give its performers the chance to really flex their acting skills. But according to Oscar Isaac nothing could be farther from the truth. The star of Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series recently spoke with Variety about his highly-anticipated turn as one of the MCU’s newest superheroes. And it sounds like we can expect him to deliver a top-notch performance when the show finally hits Disney+.

Isaac is headlining the show as Marc Spector, a CIA operative-turned-mercenary who eventually becomes the moon god Khonshu’s Earthbound avatar. Marc also suffers from multiple personality disorder, making him one of the more interesting characters set to join the MCU. Isaac didn’t mention whether viewers will get to see Marc’s psychological issues play out onscreen. But the series definitely compelled him to step outside of his comfort zone as an actor.

“Speaking with Kevin [Feige], I told him I’m going to come in with these big ideas, and if you don’t like them, that’s fair,” said Isaac. “And immediately, we saw it all. I found so much room to do things that I’ve never done before and had been curious about and wanting to do. I could not wait to get to set. And it was the biggest workload I’ve ever had in my career and most challenging; by the sheer amount of stuff we had to do in eight months. And even yet, I couldn’t wait to get to set and work.”
