Namor Star Tenoch Huerta Drops 2 Major Doctor Doom Reveals for Doomsday

In the build-up to the release of Avengers: Doomsday, actor Tenoch Huerta, who plays Namor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has shared two massive plot points about Doctor Doom in the movie. In a recent interview, Huerta opened up about the highly anticipated Avengers sequel and shared a detailed description of Robert Downey Jr.’s villainous role in the film.

Tenoch Huerta reveals major details about Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday

While speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Tenoch Huerta shed some light on the backstory that will shape Doctor Doom’s journey in Avengers 5.

“He’s that powerful that the MCU has to have every hero in different worlds — Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers — together to defeat him,” the 45-year-old actor noted. “That is the power of Doctor Doom. And why he’s so evil is because he’s hurt. Something, a tragedy, happened in his life, and this is the way he found to heal in a weird way. But it’s part of the humanity in him.”

He then took the time to praise Robert Downey Jr. for his portrayal of Doctor Doom. “Of course, you have that actor, that badass actor, playing Doom,” Huerta said. “My God, he’s fantastic. For me as an actor, I’ve admired him for years. To be a part of this war with him, and all of them, is so cool.”

Huerta further provided insight into Namor and Victor Von Doom’s dynamic in Avengers: Doomsday, revealing that the two characters “don’t have direct interaction in this part of the story.” He further spoke about the ending of the film and revealed that even though the two characters don’t share screen time in Doomsday, “at the end, what he’s doing affects the entire world.” He added, “With this anger, [Doom] can destroy everything around [him]. So, it’s not direct — the relationship — but it’s something that is the consequence of what is happening in his heart. It’s poison for everybody else.”

Helmed by the Russo brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is on track to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
