Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series is known for its unique approach to magic. But like every other good fantasy novel, there’s lots of swordplay as well. Fans of the original books are excited to see the myriad fighting styles come to life when Amazon debuts its live-action adaptation of the series next year. Now, Amazon’s newest teaser for the highly-anticipated show is bound to make them even more amped.
The official Wheel of Time Twitter account recently posted a video that details the making of a sword. The sword also features a heron insignia near its hilt, which readers will instantly recognize as the mark of the blademasters. Check it out for yourself below.

Jordan’s novels described blademasters as highly-skilled fighters with mastery over the sword. After defeating a known blademaster in single combat in front of witnesses or demonstrating their skills before five other masters, they earn the right to decorate their sword with a heron (though it isn’t required). The video shows the design process from concept to construction, starting with a passage from The Eye of the World, the first book in Jordan’s series. From here, we eventually get to see how the show’s prop department brought the weapon to life.
The Wheel of Time will premiere on Amazon Prime in 2021.
