Brian K. Vaughan Announces Open Casting Call For Amazon’s Paper Girls

Casting for Amazon Prime’s adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Paper Girls is about to get underway. Earlier today, Vaughan posted a casting notice for the show’s title characters on Instagram. You can check it out for yourself below.

Vaughan and Chiang began publishing Paper Girls through Image Comics in 2015. Set in the late ‘80s, the series revolves around four newspaper delivery girls who get caught in the middle of a war between two groups of time travelers. Throughout its run, the series earned rave reviews and also won several Eisner Awards, including Best New Series in 2016.

The show’s producers are currently on the lookout for young actresses to play the book’s four central characters. The notice includes breakdowns for each character along with a contact email address. Because it’s an open notice, it’s clear that name recognition isn’t a major concern. Additionally, the flyer confirms that filming will officially begin in March 2021.

Amazon revealed plans to adapt Paper Girls last year, not long before Vaughan and Chiang ended the comic after 30 issues. The streamer also enlisted Toy Story 4 co-writer Stephany Folsom to act as showrunner, and earlier this year, the show was officially ordered to series.

Amazon hasn’t set a premiere date for Paper Girls.
