Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu was released earlier this year, marking the franchise’s first theatrical release since 2019. However, the movie did not do as well as Lucasfilm had hoped, having struggled at the global box office. The movie ended up earning around $345 million and became the lowest-grossing Star Wars movie yet.
Many fans skipped the theatrical release, thinking they could simply watch it at home on streaming services later. The movie’s streaming debut on Fandango has performed exceptionally well in its first week. The Mandalorian & Grogu rapidly surged to the top spot on Fandango’s weekly streaming chart in its first week of availability, outperforming major summer hits like Disclosure Day, Scary Movie, Obsession, Michael, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and The Devil Wears Prada 2.
