Avengers: Secret Wars just got a major update from Kevin Feige. Feige recently teased the exact approach that the MCU wants to adopt going forward.
Feige recently chimed in with his take on the Marvel Premier Collection edition of Secret Wars. He pointed out that in the comics, the events of Secret Wars show a collision between the multiversal worlds. In the end, the multiverse gets rebuilt, which will have all the tools for the modern age. Feige said, per Comicbookmovie, “They invent something entirely new, seamlessly picking up where the old universe left off, but branching out in all-new, all-different directions.”
The President of Marvel Studios doubled down on his plans for the MCU’s Secret Wars. Feige said, “We do the same thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe… That cycle continues as we head toward the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s own version of Secret Wars. Like Loki gathering up stray branches of the timeline at the end of all things, we’ll pick up the threads of Hickman and Ribic’s run and all those who came before and weave a new story inspired by the vast tapestry of our comics and films.” Feige also added that the studio is planning to bring in various characters, which will surprise fans in the most unexpected manner.
What else do we know about Avengers: Secret Wars?
Till now, the plot of Avengers: Secret Wars has been kept heavily under wraps. Per updates from Comicbookmovie, Marvel Studios is expected to draw significant inspiration from the Secret Wars comics by Esad Ribic and Jonathan Hickman. In Ribic and Hickman’s storyline, Doctor Doom has been portrayed as the ‘God Emperor’ of the Battleworld, while the Multiverse is fully destroyed.
However, there is no confirmation that this would be the exact plot for the movie. As for the cast, Robert Downey Jr. is set to appear as Doctor Doom. The movie will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and is scheduled to be released on December 17, 2027.
