Marvel fans may have already seen the actor behind Venom in the upcoming Spider-Man series without even realizing it. The actor has teased that his casting was hiding in plain sight, while he has a long history of playing Spider-Man himself.
Josh Keaton has confirmed that he is voicing Eddie Brock/Venom in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2. Keaton wrote on X, saying that fans already caught a glimpse of him in the season’s preview at D23. He jokingly said, “How could you miss that jaw and those brows?” and then simply signed off with “Eddie Brock.”
Keaton has a celebrated history of voicing Peter Parker/Spider-Man across animated series, films, and video games. Most notably, he voiced the hero in the critically acclaimed animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man and reprised the role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The animated Marvel series is set in an alternate timeline to the MCU timeline, within the multiverse. Its first season introduced a different take on Peter Parker’s early journey as the Spider-Man persona.
Peter earns his powers after being bitten by a spider that emerges from a portal during Doctor Strange‘s fight with a symbiotic alien monster. The premiere season also introduced several familiar Marvel characters.
Season 2 will continue to expand that alternate universe. Marvel has shown a preview of the upcoming season at D23. The footage unveiled Spider-Man battling Doctor Octopus, Lizard, and Rhino, alongside introducing new characters like Gwen Stacy.
One scene also revealed Eddie Brock working as a Daily Bugle reporter. The preview ended with Peter Parker being exposed to the Venom symbiote, which transforms into the iconic black suit on his body.
Hudson Thames reprises his role as Spider-Man, Colman Domingo returns as Norman Osborn, and Charlie Cox voices Daredevil. Season 2 will also feature Ettore Ewen as Bulldozer, while returning characters include Nico Minoru, Harry Osborn, Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, Scorpion, and Finesse.
Apart from Gwen Stacy, new characters coming to the second season include Lizard, Rhino, and Venom/Eddie Brock.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 is set to premiere in January 2027 on Disney+.
