Tom Holland recently revealed that he has been kept in the dark about Avengers: Secret Wars. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day now out in theaters, fans have been speculating about his future appearances in the upcoming Marvel movies.
Spider-Man’s role in Doomsday is still unconfirmed. Moreover, many, including Josh Horowitz from the Happy Sad Confused podcast, want to know whether he will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
During the podcast, Horowitz brought up a rumor that Peter Parker will appear in Secret Wars wearing a symbiote suit. In response, Holland raised his hands and stated, “Well, I have absolutely no idea what Secret Wars is about.”
The British actor also mentioned that he recently went on vacation with Joe Russo, and nothing about the Avengers movie was disclosed to him, adding, “Truth be told, I know nothing about that movie.”
Tom Holland’s spoiler history makes Marvel’s strategy easy to understand
Although Holland is kept in the dark about the upcoming Marvel movies, he understands the strategy and agrees to it. The Spider-Man actor explained, “That is by design because Marvel knows I’m going on this press tour and that is their biggest asset, and I think it’s really important that no one ruins it.”
Holland has a history of accidentally giving out spoilers. It all started when he accidentally revealed the Avengers: Infinity War poster during one of his live streams. During this stream, the Spider-Man star accidentally unraveled the official poster to fans, only to see a “Confidential, Do Not Share” warning later.
The Brit also accidentally revealed that Spider-Man would go to space in Avengers: Infinity War. He also prematurely confirmed that Marvel was planning a Spider-Man trilogy. However, the spoiler Holland regretted most came when he shouted, “Don’t worry everybody, I’m still alive!” to a live audience ahead of the Avengers: Infinity War screening.
Despite all this, Holland said that he partly loves this side of him, adding, “I think it’s been really fun this whole idea of me spoiling things.” He also revealed that Marvel sometimes leaned into his reputation to generate “buzz on the internet.”
Before landing the role, the London-born actor said he was an MCU fan who was always first in line at the theater. Holland added, “Yeah, I am pretty loose-lipped, but it’s only because I am excited. So I feel like I’m a fan that got into the trenches with them. And sometimes when I do these interviews, I want to tell everyone what’s going on because I’m a fan!”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases worldwide on July 31, 2026. This will be followed by Avengers: Doomsday, releasing on December 18, 2026.
Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for release on December 17, 2027.
