Prime Video has released two new posters for The Boys Season 5, giving a sneak peek at what promises to be an explosive final showdown between Billy Butcher and Homelander.
Billy Butcher and Homelander shine in The Boys Season 5 posters
The newly released posters frame the escalating fight at the heart of The Boys Season 5. One shows Homelander soaring above Earth as chaos erupts beneath him, seemingly reinforcing that America has fallen under his control, and his ambitions now extend well beyond national borders. In contrast, Butcher stands amid destruction with a toppled skyscraper behind him. In other words, a visual hint of the catastrophic stakes tied to his final mission to take down Homelander and Vought.
On the whole, The Boys Season 5’s new posters confirm that the core rivalry will drive the series to its end. Showrunner Eric Kripke earlier emphasized the focus on ending the show’s primary arcs. “I would say we’re trying to land the plane on, really, the primary concerns of The Boys,” Kripke told Variety, adding, “which are Butcher vs. Homelander; the love story of Hughie and Annie; the fraught big brother/little brother relationship of Butcher and Hughie — all the things that The Boys are about, we’re trying to bring to a conclusion in a surprising and emotional way.”
It seems the stakes will be immediate and severe. Star Karl Urban recently hinted that the season opener will pull no punches. “I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be,” Urban shared at FAN EXPO. “I think the real thing to look out for in season 5… there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode… The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game,” he concluded.
