The final season of The Boys promises to go out with a brutal, bloody bang, and according to star Karl Urban, the carnage will begin shockingly early. Season 5 is set to pull no punches, with major character deaths telegraphed for the early episodes, hinting that no one is safe as the series races toward its ending.
Karl Urban teases major deaths very early in The Boys Season 5
During a recent panel at Fan Expo, Karl Urban, who leads the series as the relentless Billy Butcher, offered a chilling preview of the final season’s opening salvo. He emphasized that the show will immediately immerse viewers in its high-stakes endgame.
“I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be,” Urban told ScreenRant‘s Joe Deckelmeier. He specifically warned fans to brace for some major emotional hits right from the start, targeting their attachments to the sprawling cast of characters.
“I think the real thing to look out for in Season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode,” Urban further hinted about The Boys Season 5 deaths.
Those “big hits” appear to be major character deaths in The Boys Season 5, something Urban believes will immediately signal how intense the final season will be. He concluded with a reminder of the show’s signature unpredictability: “That’s probably what is going to make you realize, ‘Oh, this s— is for real.’ The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game.”
With filming having wrapped in June 2025, The Boys Season 5 seems to be on track for its 2026 premiere on Prime Video. The final season is expected to integrate characters from its hit spin-off, Gen V, following that show’s season 2 finale, where Starlight and A-Train recruited the Godolkin University students.
