Eric Kripke addressed one of The Boys’ most anticipated updates as the series nears its conclusion. The show’s creator shared new details about the post-production progress and release timeline for the upcoming fifth and final season.
Eric Kripke gives post-production and release date updates for The Boys Season 5
In a recent Instagram post, Kripke confirmed that editing for The Boys Season 5 is complete, while visual effects, music, and color grading are about halfway done. He thanked fans for supporting Gen V Season 2 and added, “We’re hard at work finishing @theboystv Final Season… we go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON.”
Kripke first confirmed the completion of filming for The Boys Season 5 in July 2025, marking the end of production for the Prime Video series. His latest update indicates that the team is now deep in post-production, suggesting that the final season remains on track for a 2026 release. Based on the franchise’s past timeline, the show could return as early as summer 2026.
Previous seasons of The Boys premiered between June and September: Season 1 on July 26, 2019, Season 2 on September 4, 2020, Season 3 on June 3, 2022, and Season 4 on June 13, 2024. Kripke’s “reasonably soon” caption hints that the upcoming season may follow a similar summer schedule.
Alongside The Boys, the franchise continues to expand with multiple spin-offs. Gen V recently aired its second season, and Kripke has confirmed plans for a third. Additional spin-offs, including Vought Rising, which features Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), and The Boys: Mexico, written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, are also in development.
With post-production halfway complete, Kripke’s update signals that The Boys will return before any spin-offs, likely marking an explosive conclusion to the Prime Video series’ five-season run.
