Atsushi Kaneko shares cryptic social media post about ‘what the world is waiting for’
On Nov. 2, Atsushi Kaneko shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) that read, “I know what the world is waiting for, but I want it to wait a little longer,” accompanied by a cartoon of a green frog holding a flag and a bag labeled “Happy Other News.” The image, which resembled a meme by artist @HirenCloud, quickly went viral. It gained over 70,000 views and 80 replies on X.
Fans immediately linked the post to Solo Leveling, believing Kaneko’s message hinted at a potential Season 3 announcement. “We’ll wait, but don’t make us suffer too long!” one user commented, while another replied, “take your time sensei. we will wait for the greatful fookin news ! let’s go season 3!.”
The anime’s second season aired from January to March 2025, continuing Sung Jinwoo’s journey as he embraced his power as the Shadow Monarch. It ended on the “Recruitment Arc,” leaving room for future developments. Kaneko’s comment comes eight months after the finale, which won Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
In October, author Chugong revealed that new Solo Leveling projects were “in discussion,” while reports surfaced of a live-action Netflix adaptation with leads already cast. Kaneko’s post adds to growing fan anticipation surrounding these projects, though no release details have been confirmed.
Solo Leveling is based on Chugong’s 2016 South Korean web novel, adapted by director Shunsuke Nakashige and writer Noboru Kimura. The first two seasons covered 14 arcs from the original story and are currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
