My Hero Academia Final Season Trailer Teases Midoriya & Shigaraki’s Epic Battle

My Hero Academia has released a new trailer for the eighth and final season of the superhero Shōnen anime, teasing an epic battle between the series protagonist Izuku Midoriya and antagonist Tomura Shigaraki. Based on the manga by Kōhei Horikoshi, My Hero Academia premiered in April 2016. The most recent season aired in Japan from May 4, 2024, and October 12, 2024.

Midoriya and Shigaraki’s fight continues in My Hero Academia Season 8 trailer

The new trailer for My Hero Academia Season 8 indicates that the fight between Izuku Midoriya and antagonist Tomura Shigaraki will continue in the final chapter of the anime. It also revealed the new opening theme song, PORNOGRAFFITTI’s The Revo. Notably, the group also performed the anime’s initial opening song, The Day. The first trailer for the anime came out in June.

The 1:50-minute-long clip shows Shigaraki declaring that he will destroy Japan and taunting Midoriya for treating him like a human. Meanwhile, the hero reflects that Shigaraki is the Ruin incarnate, and he must stop him. The trailer indicates that during their climactic battle, Midoriya will desperately try to save Shigaraki while protecting others from the troubled young man.

The Japanese voice cast for My Hero Academia’s final season includes Daiki Yamashita as Izuku Midoriya, Kenta Miyake as All Might, Hiroshi Kamiya as All For One, and Kōki Uchiyama as Tomura Shigaraki.

Horikoshi’s original manga was published by Shueisha from July 2014 to August 2024. It comprises 42 volumes. In the years since its debut, the manga and its anime adaptation have become a global phenomenon. Studio Bones developed the first seven seasons of the anime. It is developing the eighth chapter through its subsidiary, Bones Film.

My Hero Academia final season will premiere on October 4 at 5:30 p.m. JST on YTV and NTV’s affiliate channels in Japan. Crunchyroll will subsequently stream new episodes in the U.S. and other markets.
