Ironheart Villain Actor on What’s Next for Iron Monger’s Son in MCU

After Episodes 4-6 of the Ironheart series surprised everyone by turning Alden Ehrenreich’s Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Stane into a villain for Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams, the actor has come out to reflect on his character’s future in the MCU. Having started the show as an ally to Williams, Stane’s unexpected transition to the dark side has caused many viewers to wonder about his fate. In a recent interview, Ehrenreich touched upon this topic, providing fans with a glimpse into the potential future of Obadiah Stane’s son.

During a recent conversation, the Solo: A Star Wars Story star opened up about the direction he would like for Zeke Stane, who ended up becoming a villain in the conclusive moments of the Ironheart series.

While Alden Ehrenreich failed to specify any specifics about what the MCU holds for his character, he emphasized to ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan that he would prefer to see Ironheart showrunner Chinaka Hodge tackle the complicated dynamics between Zeke Stane and Riri Williams. “I think it’s really interesting. The thing that I hope is really for Chinaka, who is really the leader of all this, to continue that vision that she has,” he noted.

Praising Hodge’s way of handling Stane’s transformation into a villain in Ironheart, the 35-year-old actor added, “I just think she found a way to make these characters both really fun and also feel personal and interesting. I love that about it — that it has different ways it can go, and it has this depth.”

Alden Ehrenreich was originally introduced in Ironheart as a techie, named Joe McGillicuddy, who procured black market upgrades for Williams’ mechanical suits. However, Episode 3 of the series confirmed his real identity to be Ezekiel Stane, son of Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane from Iron Man. As things in Ironheart progressed, disagreements between Williams and Stane forced him to switch sides and become a villain.

While Ehrenreich may have expressed his desire to reprise his MCU role, Marvel has yet to share an official word on Ironheart Season 2 or the future of his character.
