Speculation about Ironheart‘s future has been growing among fans, with many wondering if it will return for Season 2. EP Ryan Coogler’s recent collaboration has made fans think that Season 2 might not happen. Created by Chinaka Hodge, the superhero series is based on Marvel comics and was released in 2025. It follows Riri Williams, a genius inventor, who creates an advanced armor inspired by Tony Stark. Her heroic arc begins once she starts to work with Parker Robbins, aka The Hood. Although Marvel Studios didn’t officially confirm a second season, fans anticipated another outing, but their hopes appear to be fading.
Has Ironheart Season 2 been canceled by Disney+?
Disney+ and Marvel Studios have neither renewed nor canceled Ironheart Season 2. However, a sophomore season looks unlikely.
The cancellation speculation emerged after Netflix took to social media to announce Coogler’s new collaboration with them. It revealed that Coogler, his wife Zingi, and Sev Ohanian, through production company Proximity Media, will “exclusively” develop a new series for the streaming platform. This officially concludes Coogler’s 5-year deal with Disney, which he signed back in 2021. Moreover, Ironheart is reportedly also being referred to as a “limited series,” which subtly cancels out the chances of its renewal.
Fans took to social media to share their reactions to this new deal. One said, “Hopefully y’all don’t cancel after the first season, because that’s your style!” Another wrote, “Netflix saw Ironheart and thought, we NEED that quality television.” “whatever dadaman coogler and his wife produces I’ll be watching,” a third added. Other reactions included, “I’m already excited about this,” “Maybe try not to cancel them after one season?” and “goated.”
In a previous conversation with The Direct, Dominique Thorne, who plays Riri, did not confirm whether there were any talks around the development of Ironheart Season 2 at Marvel Studios. However, she stated that she would be interested in exploring her character further in another outing, if it happens. “Actually, don’t think I can even say that without spoiling everything… I would like to see her explore the full range of other options presented to her in Season 1,” she added.
